Learning Lesson

Well,  I finished my first apron.  Let's just say on a scale of 1-10 it might earn a sympathy score of 1.  A junior girl scout could have done better.  My chin is up though; it was a learning lesson.  A few things I am going to change.  First will be to have a simpler pattern.  Second is to use a clear nylon thread.  The material I was using has a cow skin pattern, and I want to use a lot of pattern material, so I was sewing with black thread, which was okay on the black parts of the material, not so great on the white parts.  If at first you don't succeed try, try again.  Again I will try.  I knew it was not going to be easy, there is always a learning curve.  My curve is just really on the low side right now.  Oh, well, I will keep at it.

Fabric found!!

I found some great fabric.  I love it.  Tomorrow I will sew.

Day 2

Well, I found a couple patterns I liked, but did not buy any fabric yet.  It is a lot harder than I thought to decide on the fabric then the embellishments.  I just needed more time to look and I ran out.  I did make a business card.  I like the dancing sheep with the aprons, I just thought they looked funny but cute, in an odd way.

I will return to fabric shopping today.

Day One

This is day one. I am starting on a venture of making handcrafted aprons. This is something I have been thinking about and researching for several months. I finally decided to do it and see what happens. I will be selling my aprons at our local farmer's market, craft fairs and on ebay. Today I will be going to the craft store to buy my first pattern and fabric. I will keep you posted on my progress. Wish me luck!
