10 Things, One New Lipstick, and a Whole New Outlook

Actual footage of my morning brain before the 'positive thought' kicks in. 🕸️✨

Spring is officially here, and you know what that means.

Usually, this is the part where people tell you to scrub your baseboards with a toothbrush and reorganize your spice cabinet by region of origin. But let’s be honest: my cobwebs aren't just in the corners of the ceiling—they’re in my routine!
This year, I’m redefining "Spring Cleaning." Instead of just chasing dust bunnies, I’m looking for ways to refresh my life that don’t involve a mop bucket. We’re talking about the "Soul Scrub."

Start Small (Like, Really Small) We often think a fresh start requires a moving van or a career change. It doesn't. Sometimes a fresh start is just:
  • A New Shade of Lipstick: It’s amazing how a $10 tube of "Sunset Pink" can make you feel like a whole new person.

  • The "Rule of 10": Don't try to declutter the whole house in a weekend. Just find 10 things today that no longer serve you and let them go. Build up the "toss it" muscle slowly!

  • The Wardrobe Pivot: Buy that shirt in a style you’d usually walk right past. If you always wear navy, try a pattern. Give the mirror something new to look at!

The "Mental Dusting" The biggest cobwebs are usually the ones in our heads. I’ve decided to start my mornings with a positive thought before I even check my phone.  It’s like Windex for the brain. We all have those mental cobwebs—the 'I have too much to do'  loop or the "Why did I say that in 2012?" replay.

Instead of reaching for my phone and letting the world’s chaos into my bed at 6:00 AM, I’m practicing a little "Morning Buffing." Here’s how to start the day with a polished outlook:

  • The First Thought Rule: Before your feet even hit the floor, find one thing you’re genuinely looking forward to. It doesn't have to be a promotion or a trip to Bermuda. It can be the smell of the coffee, the fact that your favorite socks are clean, or that you're one day closer to the weekend.

  • Flip the Script: When a "dusty" thought creeps in—like "I’m so behind on my projects"—try to catch it mid-air. Flip it to: "I’m clearing space today to focus on what matters." It sounds cheesy until you realize how much better it feels than berating yourself.

  • Micro-Meditations: You don't need a mountain top and a robe. Just sixty seconds of deep breathing while the toaster is doing its thing can settle the "brain dust" and let you see the day more clearly.

  • The Power of Sharing: There is something incredibly grounding about putting a positive thought out into the world. Whether it's a kind text to a friend or a quick post on your blog, vocalizing the "good stuff" makes it feel more real. It turns a solitary thought into a shared energy.

Starting the day with a positive thought isn't about ignoring the mess; it's about making sure you have the light to see your way through it. With my morning thoughts polished and my spirit feeling lighter, I started looking even further ahead—all the way to the Atlantic.

Adventure is Calling If you’re really looking to blow the dust off your passport, why not pick a destination you’ve never even considered? I’ve been thinking about Bermuda lately—there’s something about those pink sand beaches that screams "fresh start."

Why Bermuda for a "Spring Clean"?
The Color Palette: Forget the "Beige Life." Bermuda is painted in pastels. Imagine houses the color of your new favorite lipstick (pinks, yellows, and mint greens) topped with crisp white roofs. It’s like the whole island got together and decided to have a permanent fresh start.
  • Whale Watching (The Good Kind of Splash): Forget about the splashes you make while mopping. In March and April, humpback whales migrate past the island. You can see them breaching from the shore at West Whale Bay—it’s nature’s way of saying, "Look at me, I'm starting fresh too!"

  • The "Pink" Therapy: Everyone talks about Horseshoe Bay, and for good reason—the sand really does have that blush tint from crushed coral. But if you want to really clear your head, find a hidden gem like Jobson’s Cove. It’s a tiny slice of paradise tucked between jagged rocks where the water is so still you can actually hear yourself think.

Whether it's the pink sands of Bermuda or a new creative spark at home, the goal is the same: making room for what actually brings us joy.

New Projects, New Energy For me, cleaning out the old has made room for the new. In addition to keeping up with this blog, I’ve jumped into the world of product review videos for social media! It’s been a blast to try something different, get in front of the camera, and share what’s actually worth your time (and what belongs in the "10 things to get rid of" pile).  If you want to see these '10 things' in action (or see which lipstick actually survived my morning coffee test), come follow me on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/lindam5612/#) or TikTok (https://www.tiktok.com/@lmgj109)!  I'm having so much fun sharing these quick reviews with you all."

So, what about you? Are you scrubbing floors this month, or are you scrubbing your outlook? Let’s clear out the cobwebs together—preferably while wearing a great new shirt. Let’s start a chain reaction! What is one "fresh" thought you’re leaning into this week? Whether it’s a goal for a new project or just a reminder to be kinder to yourself, I’d love to hear it in the comments. Let’s clear out the cobwebs together!
