Poppy Day 11.11.11

In honor of Poppy Day, more commonly known as Veteran's Day in the U.S., I have made a treasury.  I call it Poppy Day because growing up that is how I knew it because of my Grandpa who was a WWI veteran.  Here is a quote from Wikipedia as to why the poppies:

"The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem "In Flanders Fields". These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilled in the war."  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Day).

So make a poppy, buy a poppy, wear a poppy to honor all of those who served and currently serve.

  1. Really, really nice. I remember as a kid seeing the old veterans giving small paper poppies for donations. I always wanted one - but didn't understand the significance until many years later. Found you through Blogging Buddies - -
